| The
Canadian Sport Parachute Association (CSPA) Solo Certificate
allows you to solo skydive without an instructor. The Solo
Certificate has a 10 jump (minimum) and a set of skills you
must learn and demonstrate to your instructor(s). Alberta
Skydivers offers you two training methods to help you achieve
this goal.
Progressive Freefall (PFF)

Pre-requisite:
Solo
course and 2 Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD)
jumps.
PFF
is a 5-level self-paced program where each skydive lesson
is practiced on the ground, then done from 9,500 feet with
your instructors. Each lesson includes pre-jump instruction,
gear rental, one skydive with canopy coaching and a de-brief
of your jump. The goals for each level are clearly defined
and thoroughly practiced on the ground to increase your ability
to perform the skills in the air. PFF skydives require students
to perform in a fast paced high stress environment.

Gradual Freefall (GFF)

Pre-requisite:
Solo
course and 2 Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD)
jumps.
GFF
is a 12 jump program that starts with you performing "practice
pulls" to learn how to open your main parachute for yourself.
Your on-board instructor continues to IAD your jumps until
you demonstrate the ability to open your main parachute through
your practice pulls. Your first freefall will be 3 seconds
before you open your main parachute by yourself for the first
time. From there we will take you higher so you can freefall
for increasingly longer. As your freefall times increase,
the number of skills you must perform during the skydive increases.
GFF levels have less goals to achieve per jump, which makes
GFF a slower and less demanding method of learning. Each lesson
includes pre-jump instruction, gear rental, one skydive with
canopy coaching and a de-brief of your jump.
